Welcome to our latest installment of #WinephabetStreet brought to you by Dracaena Wines and Trio North Wildwood. In this series, Debbie Gioquindo and I work our way through the wine world one letter each month. We discuss the characteristics and history of the grape, as well as suggested wine pairings. So uncork, unscrew or saber that bottle and connect with us as we chat, laugh and drink wine all in a laid back atmosphere.

X is for Xarel.lo

Xarello is originally Spanish (Catalonia). Based on published genetic analyses, it would be the result of a crossbreeding between Gibi and Brustiano faux. On the podcast, we were thrilled to have special guests Rick Fisher; Spanish Programs Director, Wine Scholar Guild and Ignasi Segui of Vinyes Singulars in Penedès, Spain.

In My Glass

2019 Recaredo Mirianus Xarel-Lo Blanco

“Celler Credo is our still white wine project, producing only single-vineyards and mono-varietals wines only with xarel.lo , Parellada and Macabeu. Vineyards at 600+ meters down to 200m from in Alt Penedes Region and some of its subzones. The wines are produced following traditional style with some stems and skin contact, spontaneous fermentation and sometimes using old traditional clay vessels.”
