Welcome to Exploring the Wine Glass. Thank you for visiting. I hope that you find this site to be not only educational but entertaining. Throughout these pages, you will find interviews with winemakers, behind the scenes conversations, and stories of both national and international travels. My true love is breaking down the science behind wine. So unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin exploring the wine glass.

I began my career as a microbiologist, but my need for excitement led me to Adventure Ed. I taught students how to rock climb, zip line and tie those all important survival knots. Along the way, I fell in love with wine. I am consumed by the stories that unfold as each glass is poured. I am a UC Davis enology program graduate. I hold Spanish Wine Scholar with Honors, WSET L2 with Distinction, Champagne specialist, Côtes du Rhône and Somm Day Service certificates. I also own a winery in Paso Robles.

My blog has won the prestigious MIllesima Blog Awards in Wine and Food Pairings, was shortlisted for the Born Digital Awards, is ranked in the Top 15 Most Influential Wine Bloggers in the United States and  Feedspot’s Top 100 Wine Blogs. My podcast can be found wherever you listen and is ranked within the Top 30 Wine Podcasts and named as one of the 25 Podcasts Covering The Many Facets Of The Wine World in Forbes Magazine.

I am the founder of #CabFrancDay and have judged the Hudson Valley Wine Competition and the San Joaquin Wine Growers Competition. My work has been published in Wine Folly, Santé Magazine, SommTV Online, DrinkStack and The Vintners Project. I  am a regular guest on KSEE24 NBC in Fresno as their local wine educator.

If you are a distributor, representative from a winery, publicist or other wine lover in the business who would like to send me samples, please see my policy here and email me at [email protected].  I will be happy to share my address to which the samples should be sent along with any other information you may need.
