“Let’s have a piss-up!” Oh, the Kiwi’s and their slang crack me up! This does not mean what it sounds like, instead it means, it’s time for a party! And what a party it is going to be! Before starting the party, let’s talk New Zealand for a bit: Here are some fun facts about this area’s wine regions that offers more than the Shire:

  1. Vines were first planted in New Zealand in 1819.
  2. Marlborough is the largest wine-producing region, but Hawkes Bay is the oldest.
  3. Britain jumped started the New Zealand wine industry.
  4. Two-thirds of New Zealand wine production is white.
  5. Due to its location, New Zealand vineyards are the first on our planet to see the sun each day.

If you are interested in learning more about New Zealand wines, listen to our podcast: Or you can head to our homepage and give listen there.

After giving the podcast a listen, be sure to join my wine friends and myself this Saturday, at 11am ET/8am PT to share their wine pairing suggestions for New Zealand wines.
