At Château Niagara, the journey of every wine begins in the vineyard. Owned and operated by Jim and Kathy Baker, the winery is rooted in their deep passion for growing exceptional grapes. 100% of the grapes used in the wines are estate; ensuring complete control over quality from vine to bottle. Located on the banks of 18 Mile Creek in Newfane, NY, the 31 acre site provides the perfect terroir for cultivating high-quality vinifera grapes.
While the Niagara region is often associated with sweeter wines, Château Niagara takes a different approach by focusing on crafting wines in a dry style. Their portfolio includes both classic varietals and innovative blends, each with a distinct expression of the region’s unique climate and soils.
Jim and Kathy believe that every visitor is more than just a guest—they’re part of the Château Niagara story. When you visit, you’ll be welcomed by Jim and Kathy themselves, ensuring a highly personalized and immersive experience. Whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or just beginning your journey, we tailor each tasting to your interests.
2022 Cabernet Franc (SRP: $32.99)
This wine is a clear, pale ruby in color, suggesting a youthful, light-bodied red. The aromas are clean and medium-intensity, featuring a mix of menthol, sour cherry, and Bing cherry, indicating freshness and a cool-climate origin.
On the palate, it is dry with medium acidity and medium tannins, balanced by a low alcohol (12% ABV) level and a medium body. The flavor profile includes plum and a subtle meatiness, which adds depth and complexity. It finishes with a medium-length finish, making it approachable and versatile, ideal for pairing with a range of dishes like roasted poultry or mushroom-based dishes.
